Romantic Breaks in Herefordshire
Whether you’re celebrating an anniversary, planning a surprise birthday, preparing to propose, enjoying a minimoon or simply escaping for a few peaceful days together, Bettws Court Retreats offers the space to slow down, reconnect and enjoy time together without distractions.
Our three adult-only retreats — Barn Owl Retreat, Peregrine Retreat and Kestrel Retreat — have each been designed exclusively for two. Thoughtfully finished interiors, private double spa baths and panoramic countryside views combine with small but meaningful details to create somewhere you can genuinely switch off from the moment you arrive.
Wake naturally, make coffee and watch the countryside through the picture window. Spend the day exploring Herefordshire or stay exactly where you are. As evening arrives, open a bottle of wine, watch the sunset from your private decking and enjoy a long soak beneath the stars. At Bettws Court Retreats, doing very little can become the best part of your stay.
A memorable romantic break doesn’t need a packed itinerary. Sometimes the greatest luxury is having nowhere else to be and uninterrupted time to enjoy each other’s company.
Just the Two of You
Each retreat is exclusively for two adults, providing a peaceful and private setting where you can settle in, switch off and enjoy your stay at your own pace.
A Room with a View
Far-reaching countryside views can be enjoyed from inside each lodge and from the private decking. Watch the landscape change throughout the day, from sunrise and morning mist drifting across the fields to beautiful sunsets over the Herefordshire hills.
Private Double Spa Baths
Each retreat features its own private outdoor double spa bath. Filled with fresh water for every use, the chemical-free spa baths are perfect for watching the sunset, enjoying the stars or simply relaxing together after a day exploring.
Dark Skies & Stargazing
With little surrounding light pollution, clear evenings provide wonderful opportunities to stargaze from the comfort of your decking or spa bath. Binoculars are also provided for enjoying the views, wildlife and night sky.
Slow Mornings
Wake without an alarm, enjoy coffee overlooking the countryside and take your time over breakfast. With no schedule to follow, the day can begin whenever you are ready.
Thoughtful Touches
From Sonos speakers throughout, air conditioning and a coffee machine to bath salts, binoculars, a carefully prepared welcome basket and a few thoughtful extras, it's often the little details our guests remember most.
Some occasions deserve more than a single evening out. A few days away gives you time to celebrate properly while enjoying all the quieter moments in between.
Wedding Anniversaries
Whether it is your first anniversary, silver wedding anniversary, golden wedding anniversary or simply another year worth celebrating, enjoy uninterrupted time together in a peaceful countryside setting.

If you’re looking for a longer adventure, The Kilpeck Inn is around 90 minutes on foot, with the pub conveniently positioned around halfway around a circular countryside route. Recognised in both the Michelin Guide and Good Food Guide, it’s renowned for its seasonal menus and locally sourced ingredients.
We recommend suitable footwear, as paths can vary depending on recent weather, and checking opening times before your visit.
Walking routes are shared before arrival, included within your digital guest guide and available in the lodge within our printed walks folder, complete with maps.
