Safe Outdoor Spaces

We know every dog is different. The information below explains the outdoor space available at each property, helping you understand exactly what to expect before you book.

Old Barn House

Once the entrance gate has been closed, the garden is enclosed, allowing many dogs to enjoy the garden safely. As every dog is different, we always recommend taking a quick walk around the perimeter on arrival to ensure you’re happy before letting your dog off the lead.

BCR DOG EVENING TIME

Barn Owl Retreat & Peregrine Retreat

Both lodges feature enclosed decking with glass balustrades and privacy cladding, allowing your dog to relax safely alongside you while you enjoy the views or unwind in your private double spa bath.

A few steps from the lodge you’ll also find a designated enclosed dog area, complete with a tree trunk, tyre and weaving posts to provide somewhere for dogs to stretch their legs, play and toilet. We’ve even provided a love seat, so you can sit back, enjoy the panoramic views and watch your dog play.

The designated dog area is enclosed with standard stock fencing. We ask that dogs be kept on a lead between the lodge and the dog area, and that owners satisfy themselves that the fencing is suitable for their own dog before allowing them off the lead.

Designed with Dogs in Mind

Every dog is different, which is why we’ve tried to provide the practical touches that make travelling together easier.

Dog Welcome Packs

Every dog receives a warm welcome, including treats, poo bags and the everyday essentials to help your holiday get off to the perfect start.

Thoughtfully Equipped

We provide dog crates, crate mats, food and water bowls, towels and sofa blankets, helping you pack a little less while ensuring your dog feels at home.

Great Walks Nearby

Enjoy countryside walks directly from the property, together with many more routes just a short drive away. Our Walking Holidays page and digital guest guide are packed with ideas for exploring Herefordshire with your dog.

Luxury for Everyone

Can I bring two dogs?

Old Barn House welcomes up to two dogs. Barn Owl Retreat and Peregrine Retreat each welcome one dog.

Can dogs be left alone in the property?

We’d prefer dogs not to be left alone in the property, as it is a new environment and some dogs can become unsettled. If you do need to leave your dog, they must not have free run of the property and should be left safely in their crate. Please read our Pet Policy within the Property Rules before placing your booking.

Can my dog go on the furniture?

Yes, provided the sofa blankets supplied are used to help protect the furnishings. Dogs are not permitted in the bedrooms or on the beds. Please see our Pet Policy within the Property Rules for full details.

Do you accept puppies?

Yes, provided they’re included within your booking. As the properties are a new environment, puppies should be supervised closely at all times and owners remain responsible for any additional cleaning or damage caused. Please see our Pet Policy within the Property Rules for full details.

Where can we walk?

Several walks begin directly from the properties, with many more just a short drive away. Our Walking Holidays page and guest information include recommendations suitable for different abilities and distances, together with dog-friendly pubs and places to stop along the way.

Do I need to book my dog?

Yes. Please ensure your dog is included when making your booking so we can prepare everything ready for your arrival.

Are there any additional rules for bringing a dog?

Yes. To help everyone enjoy their stay, we ask that all guests read and agree to our Pet Policy within the Property Rules before booking. It covers topics such as supervision, where dogs are permitted, and leaving dogs unattended.
